Historical Background
St Joseph’s Primary is a Primary School situated in Beitbridge Town. It is built on the western side of Mashavire Business center and the main road , southern side of Holiday Inn. St Joseph’s Primary was founded in 2006 by Fr Jules Grebber (An SMB priest working at St Joseph’s parish). The school comprises of 10 classroom blocks and Administration block.
The school was founded to cover the shortage of schools in the border town where masses of people were flourishing for a better life. The school was manned by the Holy Cross Sisters of which Sr Elina Ringirai was the first Acting Head.The School started with an enrollment of a few learners and two classroom blocks. It swiftly grew over the years. This is indicated by the following enrollments:
2013 642 Learners and 15 teachers.
2015 1137 Learners and 18 teachers.
2017 1664 Learners and 36 teachers.
2020 2032 Learners and 44 teachers.
St Joseph’s Primary School in Beitbridge is known to be the first school to teach Chishona as well as Venda and Ndebele in the area. It has achieved greatly in its academic performance and received many awards including best District results at grade 7, Sporting awards and the Merit award of 2014.
