Matova Secondary School

Historical Background

Matova Secondary School is a Catholic Satellite School of Gokomere College located some 3,5km from Gokomere Mission, along the Masvingo -Harare highway. It opened its doors in January 2004 using the Matova Primary School block. The first enrollment had 9 girls and 7 boys and a staff compliment of 3 teachers.

It was founded as an initiative of the Responsible Authority after observing that most children were unable to afford fees at Gokomere College and the nearest affordable school was 10km away, hence they were dropouts after grade seven. Enrolment rose from 16 in 2004 to 63 in 2013. His Lordship, Sekuru Michael Bhasera then came for Matova Secondary School Site Groundbreaking Ceremony in october 2013. A 1×4 classroom block was then constructed with the Diocese contributing the steel structure and roofing.

Matova Secondary School now has an enrollment of 183 students.
