The precepts of the Church are the minimum that every Catholic is asked to do in prayer and moral effort, so that we grow in love of God and neighbour. They help us stay connected to the life of the Church.
- Attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, and rest from unnecessary work.
- Confess your sins at least once a year.
- Receive Holy Communion at least during the Easter season.
- Observe the days of fasting and abstinence set by the Church, such as Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.
- Help provide for the needs of the Church according to your means, through time, talent and offerings.
These precepts are not the whole of the Christian life, but a firm foundation on which a life of holiness is built.
