Jubilee 2025 Celebration: A Tribute to Educators and Staff

As Education Secretary, it was a joy to reflect on the Jubilee 2025 celebration dedicated to hardworking educators and non-teaching staff. The event was not only a recognition of years of service, but a heartfelt appreciation of the passion and commitment they bring to education each day. The celebrations were guided by the theme “Catholic Educators: Pilgrims of Hope.”

A key highlight of the programme was a series of professional and spiritual talks focusing on forgiveness and reconciliation, retirement preparation, and leadership and communication in schools. These sessions provided practical and transformative insights. Rev. Fr. O. Makova’s presentation on forgiveness encouraged healing and collaboration among educators, while Mr Albert Dhafana’s retirement talk offered guidance and reassurance to those nearing the end of their careers. Rev. Fr. S. Mutsvanga’s session on leadership and communication emphasised teamwork, mutual respect, and effective engagement within school communities.

The jubilee also featured a vibrant liturgical Mass filled with joyful singing and dancing. In a touching homily, Very Rev. Fr. O. P. Chagweda urged teachers and support staff to remain resilient and loving, reminding them of their responsibility to be “angels” to the learners entrusted to them.

In his keynote address, Rt. Rev. Bishop R. T. Mupa highlighted the importance of prayer, vigilance, and child protection in schools. He encouraged educators to nurture the holistic development of learners, promote peaceful conflict resolution, and move away from corporal punishment, stressing that education is rooted in care, kindness, and guidance.

The Jubilee was not only a celebration of achievements but also a renewal of commitment to educational values. Participants left feeling uplifted, inspired, and motivated to continue their mission in the classroom and beyond.

Gratitude was extended to all who contributed to the success of the event — Bishop Mupa, the Vicar General, parish priests, school chaplains, religious brothers and sisters, school heads and deputies, teachers, non-teaching staff, and generous suppliers. Their collective support fostered a strong sense of unity and shared purpose.

The Jubilee 2025 celebration stood as a memorable occasion that strengthened community, inspired growth, and reaffirmed the pillars of forgiveness, preparation, leadership, and communication as foundations for a brighter future in Catholic education.
