Sacred Heart High School

The school opened doors in 2001 under the name Rutenga Secondary School as a Catholic Diocese of Masvingo institution to service the neglected of the resettlement area. It was then the only secondary school in the area. The school started with only 35 learners and 3 teachers and was by then sharing infrastructure with Rutenga Primary School. Due to increased enrollment at Rutenga Primary School in 2002, the school had to move to the Roman Catholic Church hall, kitchen, church corridors and any other available space as learning spaces. In 2002, a one by four classroom block was completed and the school moved to its present site in January 2003. Located 149km from Masvingo City, the school was officially handed over to the Brothers of Sacred Heart by the Bishop of Masvingo in August 2002. This led t the school attaining a new name; Sacred Heart High School in September 2015.
