Gokomere Mission Clinic
Overview
Gokomere Mission Clinic is a Roman Catholic facility situated in a farm 17km along Masvingo Harare highway. Currently it has a population of 6091. It was established as a dispensary in 1949 during the time of Fr James Webba as the Priest in Charge and Sr Evelyn Dominican as the nurse in charge.
In the farm there is a secondary school, primary school and a training centre. There are also 7 villages in the farm. Due to increased population and demand of patients, where some of patients needed admission, this led to the expansion of the dispensary to an admitting clinic.
This was done during the period 1958 – 1960. This was during the period of father Remurie as the priest in charge and Sr Hildgard SJI as the nurse in charge at the clinic. Gokomere mission clinic is a 34 bedded clinic with 30 general beds and 4 maternity beds. It has a staff establishment of 3 RGN, 6 Nurse Aides, 1 general hand and 1 PCN.
At the present we have 2RGN, 3PCN, 4 Nurse Aides, 1 general hand and 1PC.
It offers a wide range of services which are OPD, ANC, IMNCI, OI, VMMC and maternity services.
OPD, ANC, PNC and PMTCT services are offered 24 hourly.
